Chapter 457 Night Falls
Chapter 457 Night Falls
Then the streak of light disappeared into the horizon.
"What is that...?" Zhang Heng asked blankly.
Zhang Tianya narrowed his eyes and suddenly smiled.
"It's him."
Zhao Zhiyuan asked, puzzled, "Who?"
Zhang Tianya didn't answer, but simply said, "Never mind that, just focus on fighting monsters."
The group continued their attack on the giant lizard.
But everyone was wondering: who was the person in that streak of light?
......
Western border.
Kenichi Sato stood on a cliff, looking down at the view below.
Below the cliffs lies a vast plain.
Dozens of wild monsters were scattered across the plains—level 50 Rock Armor Scorpions, level 53 Sand Giant Lizards, and several level 55 Gale Harpies.
The Dark Ravens are struggling to clear out these monsters.
Tatsuno Yamamoto, shielding himself, withstood the attack of a giant lizard.
His health fluctuated wildly, and he relied entirely on the priest behind him to keep him alive.
Chishima Rin flanked the lizard, leaving wounds on its body with a poisoned dagger.
The venom continued to burn, taking away a little bit of health every second.
Hattori would sometimes hide in the shadows, occasionally appearing to deliver a finishing blow before disappearing again.
Hikaru Kobayashi stood at the rear, directing the attack while assisting with trap spells.
The frost traps and mud traps he set did work, slowing down the monsters' movements.
Even so, progress is still very slow.
A level 55 Gale Harpy swooped down and nearly snatched a mage. Fortunately, Sato intervened in time and severed the harpy's wing with a single strike.
"Useless," Sato said coldly.
The monk turned pale and apologized repeatedly.
Hikaru Kobayashi walked over and adjusted his glasses.
"Guild Master, this efficiency is too low. We are short-handed, and the level gap is too large. At this rate, we'll be lucky to clear a hundred monsters in 24 hours."
Sato remained silent for a few seconds.
"Where is Lin Tian? Where is he?"
Kobayashi Hikaru shook his head: "I don't know. Our information is limited; we only know that he's in the Eastern Territory."
Sato looked into the distance.
"He will come. During the overlap period, he will definitely appear."
He gripped the knife handle tightly.
"I will kill him with my own hands when the time comes."
Kobayashi Hikaru didn't say anything.
He simply watched Sato's retreating figure, a complex emotion flashing in his eyes behind his glasses.
......
The western border, another place.
Marcus led the men of the Imperial Barrier to occupy a high ground.
Their situation is much better than that of the Dark Ravens.
Marcus's [Thunder Herald] talent is an absolute monster-killing machine in this environment.
He charged ahead alone, his body exploding with the power of thunder, each attack inflicting paralysis and armor-piercing effects.
Those level 50+ monsters couldn't withstand more than a few hits from him.
Catherine followed behind, her long whip lashing out like a venomous snake to catch the stragglers.
Her [Crimson Lash] has a life-steal effect; with each lash, her health recovers a small amount.
Jack stood at the forefront, and the shield from [Earth Barrier] allowed him to withstand several waves of attacks.
Isabella controlled the battlefield from the rear, and the icy zone created by [Frostbite Domination] made it impossible for monsters to move.
Roderick stood on high ground, using [Tracking Lock] to mark each monster, making it easier for others to lock onto the target.
Vincent lurked in the shadows, occasionally delivering a finishing blow, but mostly observing his surroundings.
"Not bad efficiency." Marcus nodded in satisfaction. "At this rate, we can accumulate a lot of points in 24 hours."
Catherine licked her lips, her eyes gleaming with a bloodthirsty light.
"I wonder what Kenichi Sato is up to."
Marcus sneered.
"Who cares what they do? The weaker they are, the better."
He looked towards the eastern horizon.
"During the overlap period, let them fight Lin Tian first. After they're done, we'll finish them off."
Everyone nodded in agreement.
In the distance, the sun is setting.
There are 22 hours left until the first overlap period.
......
Eastern border.
Lin Tian landed on another hill.
He had been playing for almost two hours, and his points had increased to over eight thousand.
But these points are just a drop in the ocean for him.
Celia was having a great time playing around, chasing a lone rock scorpion all over the place with her shadow whip.
The rock scorpion was already covered in wounds and on the verge of death from her whipping.
"Stop playing, end it," Lin Tian said.
Celia gave an "oh" and lashed out with her whip, smashing the head of the rock scorpion.
[Points +8]
Lin Tian glanced at the sky.
The sun had completely sunk below the horizon, and night had fallen.
"Let's find a place to rest," he said. "We'll continue tomorrow."
Celia skipped back and climbed onto his shoulder.
Little Whitey was wrapped around his arm and had fallen asleep.
Lin Tian took to the air and flew eastward.
In the distance, a massive mountain range can be vaguely seen, its peak shrouded in clouds and mist.
There, an even more powerful aura emanates.
Perhaps, it's the BOSS.
A slight smile appeared on his lips.
interesting.
......
As night fell, the western wilderness was shrouded in deep darkness.
A cold moon hung in the sky, casting a pale light that made this barren land look like a ghost town.
Occasionally, nocturnal monsters would let out low growls, the sounds echoing across the open plains, sending chills down one's spine.
A secluded valley somewhere in the western border.
The valley entrance is narrow, with steep rock walls on both sides, making it easy to defend and difficult to attack.
Inside the valley, however, lies a hidden world. It is a relatively flat open space surrounded by naturally formed stone walls, with only a small patch of night sky visible overhead.
Kenichi Sato chose this place as the Dark Ravens' temporary base.
At this moment, a bonfire was lit in the middle of the valley.
The orange-red flames flickered, casting long shadows of the people around them.
Sato sat cross-legged by the campfire, with two samurai swords resting horizontally on his lap.
The firelight illuminated his face, making the scar that ran diagonally from his brow bone to the corner of his mouth look particularly grotesque.
He kept his eyes closed and didn't say a word, only tapping his fingers on the scabbard intermittently.
Hikaru Kobayashi sat opposite him, holding a hand-drawn map in his hand.
The map was covered with various symbols, representing the results of his observations throughout the day.
His eyes, behind the gold-rimmed glasses, were slightly narrowed, occasionally flashing with a thoughtful glint.
Hattori Half-hitsugi huddled in the shadows of a corner, almost blending into the darkness.
If it weren't for the occasional blink of an eye, it would be hard to notice that there was someone sitting there.
Chishima Rin leaned against a rock, toying with a blue-glowing dagger in her hand.
The black veil covered most of her face, revealing only a pair of alluring yet sharp eyes.
She would glance at the obese figure across the campfire every now and then, a faint sneer playing on her lips.
Yamamoto Tatsuno sat on the very edge, his obese body almost completely filling the rock.
He gulped down the sake he carried with him, his fleshy face trembling slightly with each chew.
