Chapter 882: Catching an Affair
Chapter 882: Catching an Affair
Damian Knight looked at the man: "Okay. I’ll give you half a month."
"That’s too short. The place is hard to get into—it’s not something you can do just with a disguise. I need to find some channels. It’ll take at least a month."
"Alright. But in one month, I need to know everything about Trevia."
"Deal."
The man slapped his long leg, which he had shaved, and laughed like a child, starting to toast with Damian Knight.
"Boss, come have a couple of drinks with me. I’ve been on the plane for ten hours with only cheap wine; I’m dying here!"
Damian Knight raised his glass symbolically.
This man is ranked number one on the international detective list, codenamed Hawkeye. There’s nothing he can’t accomplish, only things people haven’t thought of.
It’s hard to get him to come out of retirement, but Damian Knight once saved him by chance, and that friendship was born.
"Don’t be stingy, drink!" Hawkeye handed Damian Knight a glass.
Damian Knight frowned: "I’m not drinking. My wife at home isn’t happy with the smell of alcohol."
"Wife?" Hawkeye asked with a look of disbelief: "What woman would be blind enough to fancy your poker face lacking any charm?"
Damian Knight’s face darkened: "What do you mean?"
Seeing Damian Knight’s reaction, Hawkeye was even more surprised and muttered "What the hell," asking: "Do you really have a wife?"
Before Hawkeye could finish, the bar’s security rushed in to report.
"Young Master Knight, there’s trouble outside—a woman is asking for you by name. She said you must go out immediately, otherwise... otherwise..."
Hawkeye asked playfully: "Otherwise what?"
The security glanced at Damian Knight and struggled to speak: "Otherwise you’ll be finished."
"Hahaha!" Hawkeye slapped his leg: "This should be fun! Who is she? I want to see."
"You can’t expose your identity. Stay here while I go out to check."
Damian Knight said, warningly glancing at Hawkeye, then left the bar looking suspicious.
What woman would point him out by name?
No one should know he’s here; he noticed no one following him on the way.
Damian Knight’s expression turned slightly unpleasant, gathering a few bodyguards while heading out.
However—
Once he reached the bar entrance and saw the visitor, Damian Knight froze on the spot.
"...Sadie?"
He never expected the woman looking for him to be Summer Monroe.
Damian Knight quickly approached, reaching out to hold Summer Monroe’s hand, yet she immediately pulled away.
His hand grabbed nothing but air, making him inexplicably anxious.
"Sadie? What’s wrong?"
Summer Monroe raised her deep gaze to meet Damian Knight’s.
After spending half a day in the archive room, she couldn’t sit still any longer and directly took a cab to this bar.
Whether or not Damian Knight was seeing another woman, she refused to indulge in wild guesses alone; she wanted personal verification.
Once the truth was clear, they’d move on if possible; if not, they’d end things. There’s nothing she couldn’t let go of.
She could tolerate any flaw of Damian Knight, but not his unfaithfulness—she couldn’t just swallow that silently.
"Sadie?"
Seeing Summer Monroe silent, not allowing him to hold her hand, only staring fixedly at him, Damian Knight felt as if a heavy stone pressed on his chest, and his usually unemotional handsome face inadvertently flushed with urgency.
Summer Monroe took a deep breath and finally spoke: "Explain, why are you here?"
Once she confirmed Damian Knight indeed had another woman outside, she’d leave.
Without looking back.
