Chapter 285: Sam Wanders
Chapter 285: Sam Wanders
Sam had seemingly sacrificed himself, it didn’t matter if these zombies were evolved or otherwise, they couldn’t survive being burnt alive.
There was no way that their bodies would hold up without disintegrating but this also applied to Sam.
However, unlike the zombies, Sam was adept at this and without a second thought, threw himself from the second floor onto the ground.
Sam landed on the ground whilst simultaneously rolling onto the ground to break his fall.
This was why Sam was strong, he knew how to adapt to any situation at the drop of a hat.
The zombies kept pouring into the house because the flames attracted them.
They might have evolved but these couldn’t’ see, they were your typical runner-type zombie and Sam got rid of them without sustaining a single injury.
That huge chunk of meteorite, Sam wondered how it got there to begin with.
Did someone or something carry it here? That should be impossible considering the size so where did this building come from?
Was it made to house the meteorite and if it could affect inanimate objects then how long was it until it stuck its tendrils into the very earth and took complete control of it?
It was a parasite and one would think that it planned to dominate the earth by taking control of humans but that wasn’t the case, it planned to do it by taking the very world.
This meant that the parasite avoiding the community made no difference, it would fall eventually but had to take Jason out of the equation.
Chronos’ current state was unknown, it wasn’t known if it had merged with the other.
Sam realized that Jason had a hand to do with this, it wasn’t just in his head because there was no way that the fragment would want him to destroy it.
Sam realized that he had left the fragment he had on him, he realized that this might be a problem but for some reason, he was relieved.
Sam noticed a few runners managed to make it out of the building and charged right at me.
He chuckled upon seeing this but this was only because Sam wished to have fun.
And in no time, he disposed of them but left only one ’alive’ but it had no limbs for Sam had severed them all.
"I have always wondered about something..." Sam spoke to the squirming body before him.
Placing his feet on the torso to stop it from moving.
"Do you feel pain?" Sam questioned but of course, he got no answer but he wasn’t looking for one.
He crouched down and began to skin the zombie, removing its skin with such precision that one would think he was a butcher in his past life.
Sam had a grin on his face, his eyes opening with excitement, morality no longer existed.
"I feel so fucking alive!" Sam exclaimed but something interesting happened at that moment.
The building behind him blew up into smithereens with a piece of flaming wood missing his head by an inch but the zombie beneath his feet wasn’t so fortunate.
It went right through its head and for some reason, Sam took this as some sort of divine intervention because he could have easily been killed but it chose the zombie to take.
Sam knew he needed to leave because there was no way the hive would like what he had done.
The number of zombies it has sent here was proof of that and Sam left the area, leaving no trace of his existence.
-
It took approximately an hour or more for Sam to arrive at his new destination but he was met with two corpses not far from each other and further ahead was a lake.
Sam took a quick look around because these bodies were fresh but more so, they didn’t turn.
This allowed Sam to dismiss that it was a zombie because the very reason they preyed on humans was to spread the infection and multiply their numbers.
And judging from their wounds, it wasn’t self-inflicted either.
Sam scanned the area but he was aware that the probability of a threat lurking was exponentially high, eyes could be on him at this very moment.
Sam had to figure out a way to draw whatever it was in and only one thought came to his mind.
"AAAAARRRGGGHHHH!" Sam screamed at the top of his lungs, prompting anyone or anything within range to hear him.
Sam didn’t have time for games and wanted to see if he had cause to worry or if he needed to kill one more thing, be it living or dead.
And just as he expected, a few zombies walked right towards him but these were the weakest kind of zombies. Even a child stood a decent chance of surviving against these types.
Sam sighed in disappointment but he wasn’t going to bother himself to kill them.
They followed the sound so all Sam needed to do was divert their attention and he did that by throwing a rock a couple of meters away.
The sound was enough to divert their attention away from Sam but Sam took off all of his clothes and just dived into the body of water.
He was filthy and needed to wash it all away but he was also vulnerable in this state as he had no means to defend himself.
And that was the single mistake Sam had made, a moment of carelessness might have potentially cost him his life.
Something in the distance was watching him and the moment Sam was in this state, it crept up on him while making no sound whatsoever.
Utilizing Sam’s blindspot well, the way it moved and the intellect it displayed was like a predator hunting its prey and before long, it was within range to attack Sam.
Sam managed to turn around to spot this creature but it was too late as it had already lunged at him.
