Chapter 257: Bella Arrives In HELL
Chapter 257: Bella Arrives In HELL
Bella managed to get to the camp, she didn’t try to use any sneaky method to gain entry and walked right through the front gate with her hands above her head.
She knew that time was of the essence and the longer she waited, the probability that she came here in the first place was in vain.
She had planned to wait out the night but she also knew that this was a recipe for disaster, she couldn’t risk it because she didn’t know what lurked.
The people there were shocked to see her but Bella was surprised that she wasn’t treated as hostile, the people that welcomed her cheered.
This confused Bella considering she had betrayed them but this only made her put her guard up.
There had to be some sort of ulterior motive to this and she wasn’t going to let this disarm her.
Bella smiled and the weapon she had on her wasn’t taken away at the entrance.
She could smell booze and drugs in the air, that could explain why they treated her the way they did.
They were high but this was unlike them, the Specters would never allow such a thing to happen under their watch as they were more like a militia.
Bella knew that it would be easy for her to sneak in but she also knew that this would give the wrong impression.
"The prodigal daughter returns!" One random man barked, slapping her ass in the process.
Bella didn’t think much of this because this was the atmosphere that came with such an environment but what caught her attention was how they got access to such a drug.
This shouldn’t be possible considering that they were running low on everything before she left.
They must have found a new place to replenish this but she was scared that the Specters wouldn’t receive her.
"Hey, you..." A voice greeted her from behind but the lack of response from Bella showed that this was a man she knew.
"Alex..." Bella muttered under her breath, she was relieved that he was still alive because Alex had always been the logical one among them.
Alex was supposed to be dead considering that Sam had blown up the building that he was in but Alex didn’t survive without repercussions.
Not only was his right arm missing, his entire left side had suffered third-degree burns and his mobility had been permanently altered.
He didn’t partake in the activities that these people often used to kill time.
"Bella, what are you doing here?" Alex questioned, he skipped the formalities as he didn’t care much for what she was doing or up to.
"I came to seek an audience with the Specters," Bella said outright, Alex sighed the moment he heard this.
The Specters have never been so easily accessible before so why did she think that this would be any different?
"Bella, the Specters have scattered once again," Alex responded, the fact that he revealed this information without resistance showed that he trusted Bella to an extent even if she betrayed them, she had her reasons.
Whatever it was that brought her here must be far more important than her life because one could consider this a suicide mission.
"I just need to see him," Bella said and Alex instinctively knew who she was referring to.
Bella noticed the place looked a lot different than she remembered, they had taken measures to actively erect buildings and posts to not only increase the security but the living conditions.
"Bella, you do not understand..." Alex muttered but before he could speak further on this.
A familiar man came into view and his eyes spotted Bella.
Alex knew it was time to keep his mouth shut, Bella noticed that the man that appeared was Ren.
Ren was the last person she wanted to see right now because there was no law stopping him from cutting her down.
"Don’t say anything," Alex warned before taking a step back, Ren was quick to anger and angering him was the last thing that she needed.
Bella gulped because, among the Specters, he was the most troublesome.
"You bitch, what do you think you’re doing here!?" Ren barked, already reaching for the sword strapped to his back.
Bella braced herself for a confrontation because she knew that things could escalate but she had no plans of dying in vain.
She had to complete her mission, she had just come here but she wondered why Ren remained if the Specters had scattered.
Ren was one of the few people that ever remained in place but fortunately for Bella, Alex wasn’t about to let him have his way.
Alex looked hideous, it was a miracle he was alive but it wouldn’t be a far-fetched thought to say he would have been better dead than alive.
"What do you think you’re doing?" Ren questioned, the tone he used made Bella fear for Alex’s life.
"Hear her out..." Alex said sternly, there wasn’t any hint of fear in his voice as he was a man that even the Specters respected.
"You fucking cripple, you want to die that bad, huh?" Ren blurted out before sending him flying with a spinning kick to his temple.
Alex couldn’t protect Bella, he couldn’t even protect himself.
Bella, however, knew that Ren’s rage was justified and accepted that this might be the universe’s way of punishing her.
She dropped to her knees and looked Ren right in the eyes, Ren was surprised by this gesture.
He expected her to put up some sort of resistance yet here she was, accepting her fate.
"You can do whatever it is you want to me, Ren but I have one thing to ask," Bella said.
Ren thought that Bella’s earlier antics six months ago were an elaborate act because he didn’t believe that people could change.
"What is it?" Ren didn’t even realize when he asked this question, it was like his curiosity got the best of him.
"Please, do not destroy the community," Bella pleaded and Ren couldn’t believe his ears.
Bella came all the way here, risking her life to ask something this silly.
