Chapter 209: The Plan Of The Undead!
Chapter 209: The Plan Of The Undead!
Glenn and Co had managed to retreat from the area, they were glad that Dimitris did what he did otherwise they would have been screwed.
"Would he be alright?" Carl asked, surprised that Dimitris took such an extreme to save them.
"He will be fine, he has survived worse things than this," Glenn reassured him.
Jason looked at the man sticking with them, he didn’t seem to care about Dimitris or what he did to save them.
"We need to find shelter, there is no telling how long we will be out here," The slender man suggested, it was a good idea but he wasn’t the one in charge.
"What is your name?" Jason asked, walking right in front of him to establish himself.
The man wasn’t intimidated because Jason didn’t have the fear factor.
"This isn’t the time to measure our dicks, we need to find shelter and we also need to stick together until Dimitris gives the signal..." The man said.
"I hate to do this but Jeff is right," Glenn said, standing between them both before things could escalate.
Jason had a bad feeling about him but he couldn’t place his fingers around it.
"Jeff, huh?" Jason muttered before stepping aside and taking a mocking bow.
"Lead the way, your highness" Jason said and Jeff snickered the moment Jason did this.
"You must be fun one at parties," Jeff said before walking away.
Jason knew he couldn’t spook him, he had to be careful with Jeff as he was being with Allison.
Jason knew that finding shelter might be the right course of action but what if it wasn’t?
Dimitris could need help if he encounters any evolved zombies, he wasn’t equipped to handle them.
Not with that amount of ammunition on him so where was this faith in Dimitris coming from when they didn’t even know what awaited him out there?
"You people should go on ahead, I will wait here for Dimitris," Jason suggested.
Glenn was surprised by this decision but it was also the right one to make.
"Fine, is Carl staying with you or we should take him along?" Glenn asked.
Carl waited for Jason’s answer, this experience was already overwhelming for him.
"Take him, I can’t look after him and defend myself when I don’t even know what is out there. I will let you know when it is time to return here by firing three bullets, a five-second interval between each," Jason said before stepping away.
Jeff shook his head at this stupid decision, he knew that the chances of Jason returning were slim not that he cared.
"Your deathbed," Jeff muttered as Glenn and Carl followed behind him.
"Chronos, what the fuck is going on?" Jason questioned, who could blame him considering the amount of bullshit that has been happening.
[[What do you mean?]] Chronos responded bluntly and Jason was cautious about what came out of his mouth.
"The zombies, why are the evolved not hunting each other?" Jason questioned.
[[It is possible they have evolved past the point of acting based only on instinct]]
Chronos said but this was a strange thing to say considering this was something that he could have been informed of much sooner.
"Are you saying it is possible for the fucking dead to work together?" Jason asked.
[[That is correct, the barricade on the road, I believe it was set up by then. There was a zombie that I sensed residue of the meteorite emitting from but it never attempted to devour us]]
Chronos informed Jason, that this must have been the zombie that threw that stone at Dimitris but why did they want them off the road or even in this state?
"Don’t tell me..." Jason put the pieces together and Chronos was linked to him so he knew exactly what the young man was thinking.
[[That is correct, the zombies didn’t consume us because we aren’t theirs to eat...]]
Chronos paused, allowing Jason to complete.
"They are hunting us, they want to turn us themselves!" Jason muttered.
This made Jason’s blood curdle because he realized that they were in more danger than he anticipated.
-
Dimitris could easily outrun the zombies, they were slow and didn’t possess the ability to match his speed even though their stamina was endless.
Dimitris made sure to keep making noise so they could follow him, this was the quickest any raid has gone to shit but Dimitris knew he could still salvage it.
There was a reason that they hadn’t been able to raid this particular place for quite some time.
It wasn’t the zombies but how secure the hospital was or rather, the asylum.
This was an asylum that they couldn’t breach but they came prepared this time around with a foolproof strategy.
Dimitris knew there would still be medicine in the asylum even if it wasn’t much.
This was what they were banking on because it would keep them going in the meantime.
The threat level too was on the low side but that was six months ago.
A lot could change in six months and they were weaker than they were then as well and this was due to their limited ammunition. But desperate times call for desperate measures.
"This is easy..." Dimitris thought to himself but the zombie that had thrown the stone replayed in his head.
"What was the point of that?" Dimitris thought, if it was to make them crash then it failed but he expected it to give more of a chase but it just stood there.
Like that was its only purpose but Dimitris was a man that was familiar with orders and how people responded to them.
And that was the energy he got from that zombie, it was just waiting in the middle of the road with a brick in hand? That couldn’t be a coincidence.
"Something is off," Dimitris thought to himself and he was right because in the distance, stood something that he wished not to encounter.
