Chapter 1006: A Safe House
Chapter 1006: A Safe House
After flying for several hours, they finally descended near an old town.
The place looked ordinary.
Small stone houses lined narrow streets while smoke rose lazily from chimneys. A few mortals walked about carrying baskets and firewood while some cultivators at the Qi Refining Realm wandered around casually.
Nothing about the town stood out.
Han Yu quietly observed everything while following his master through the streets. They eventually stopped before a small old house near the edge of the town.
The place looked abandoned and dust coated the windows while weeds grew around the courtyard walls.
Han Yu frowned slightly.
"Are we staying here?" he asked.
It did not make much sense to him. The town still remained relatively close to the sect. Three hundred kilometers might seem like a great distance to mortals, but for powerful cultivators it was hardly anything.
The Second Kidney Peak Head merely smiled faintly.
"Come inside first."
The three entered the old house.
The interior was empty and dusty. Broken furniture lay scattered about while cobwebs filled the corners. The place truly looked abandoned for years. Then the old man led them toward the basement.
Han Yu immediately sensed faint formation fluctuations there.
The moment he descended the stairs his eyes narrowed.
Formation lines covered the floor and walls of the underground chamber. Ancient symbols intertwined together in complicated patterns while spirit stone sockets lined the edges.
Han Yu instantly recognized it.
"A Teleportation Array?" he asked in surprise.
The Second Kidney Peak Head nodded.
"Yes. This will take us where we need to go."
Han Yu looked at the massive formation carefully. The complexity alone surpassed most teleportation arrays he had ever seen within the sect.
"This is part of the Sect’s emergency escape system," the Peak Head explained. "It leads to one of the hidden safe houses prepared long ago."
Han Yu had heard rumors before that the sect possessed countless hidden measures prepared over hundreds of thousands of years, but this was the first time he had personally encountered one.
The old man chuckled softly.
"To be honest, even I did not know this place existed until the Patriarch informed me."
Han Yu raised his brows.
Even a Peak Head had no prior knowledge of it. That alone showed how secretive these arrangements were. The Second Kidney Peak Head continued explaining while activating the formation manually.
"This array can only be used once. After activation it will destroy itself completely. No one will be able to trace us or use it again."
Han Yu nodded thoughtfully.
That certainly sounded like something the Blood Sect would prepare. The old man inserted spirit stones into the sockets one after another. The ancient formation slowly lit up while a low humming sound spread through the basement.
Soon the entire chamber glowed with crimson light.
"Step in."
The three walked into the center.
The formation activated fully.
SHUA
Han Yu immediately felt space twisting around him. Weightlessness overtook his body as the world blurred.
Unlike shorter teleportation arrays this one lasted much longer. Han Yu felt his body drifting through unstable space for nearly two minutes before the sensation finally faded. Then his feet touched solid ground again.
Han Yu opened his eyes.
He found himself inside another underground chamber. Stone walls surrounded them while faint moisture clung to the air. The place looked old and isolated. Han Yu immediately spread his spirit sense outward.
His master did the same.
The two quickly realized they were beneath some kind of mansion hidden deep within a forest. The surrounding area stretched endlessly with dense trees and distant mountain ranges. Han Yu could not identify the region at all.
No familiar landmarks existed.
No recognizable sect aura.
Nothing.
It felt like they had been teleported to another world entirely. The three climbed the stairs and emerged into the mansion above.
Dust covered everything as they saw furniture that had sat untouched for years while curtains hung in tatters near the windows.
The entire place looked forgotten.
Han Yu frowned slightly as he examined the formation arrays hidden throughout the mansion.
All of them had gone inactive.
The spirit stones fueling them had long since exhausted their energy.
His master noticed too.
"I’ll reactivate the arrays," the Second Kidney Peak Head said. "You go inspect the surroundings."
Meng Jueyan immediately stepped forward.
"I shall clean the mansion first."
The woman had already begun organizing things before either of them responded. Han Yu left the mansion and rose into the sky.
The forest stretched endlessly in every direction. Large ancient trees towered over the landscape while thick mist drifted between them. Several mountains rose in the far distance though Han Yu could not tell how far they extended.
The air felt strangely calm.
Too calm.
Han Yu flew around the surrounding region carefully while maintaining his spirit sense at full range. Yet no matter how much he observed, he could not determine where they had arrived.
He wanted to travel farther. Unfortunately his master’s warning still lingered in his mind. The Second Kidney Peak Head had already ordered him not to wander recklessly. Thus Han Yu eventually stopped exploring directly.
Instead he released the Rat Battalion.
Large numbers of rats quietly scattered into the forests. Chitterfang proudly led them while squeaking commands nonstop.
"Children! Spread out!"
"Search everything!"
"Find all shiny things!"
Han Yu almost rolled his eyes hearing the fat rat’s priorities. Still the battalion quickly disappeared into the wilderness. With that done Han Yu returned to the mansion. By the time he arrived, the arrays had already been reactivated.
A faint barrier now covered the entire property.
Han Yu could immediately sense the terrifying strength hidden within those formations.
Some defensive layers alone possessed enough power to stop peak Dao Treading Realm cultivators. Others concealed the mansion entirely from outside detection.
The Second Kidney Peak Head stood within the courtyard while adjusting several control formations.
"This place should remain secure now," he said.
Han Yu nodded slowly.
Then the old man looked directly at him.
"You are not to move farther than one kilometer from the mansion."
Han Yu frowned slightly.
"One kilometer?"
"The protected area only extends that far," the Peak Head replied firmly. "Outside that range I cannot guarantee your safety."
Han Yu could only nod.
The old man continued.
"I will prepare cultivation chambers for you later. For now, we remain here until further instructions arrive from the Patriarch."
Han Yu looked toward the endless forest beyond the barriers.
Everything had changed far too quickly. Only a short while ago he had controlled the entire situation within the sect. Now he sat hidden in some unknown wilderness together with his master while the Blood Sect drowned in paranoia.
Still Han Yu quietly smiled inwardly. Even if he had been removed from the sect itself, the seeds he planted there had already begun growing.
