Chapter 392: Certain I’m Deeply in Love with You
Logan Shaw’s eyes lit up, a joyful smile appeared on his face, and he immediately chased after her, shouting loudly: "Evelyn!"
Grabbing Evelyn Morgan’s wrist and seeing the tears in her eyes, Logan Shaw hastily said, "Let’s have a good talk!"
"I don’t want to talk to you anymore." Evelyn Morgan shook her head, her face was cold and determined.
She had previously mustered the courage to ask Logan Shaw once, asking if he was indeed her big brother, and he had denied it.
Now, she had no desire to talk to him.
Anyway, she couldn’t get the truth out of his mouth!
Heh!
She had naively thought that he wouldn’t lie.
Even that she would believe whatever he said.
It’s not his fault.
It’s hers.
It’s her fault for foolishly believing him.
"Logan." Evelyn Morgan pulled her hand back from his palm, her amber eyes surging with a determined cold light.
"I only now realize that it’s quite good for us to be strangers! Don’t worry, the peaceful life you want, I’ll give it to you, I won’t ask about those doubts, anyway, I no longer have any expectations from you."
Saying that, Evelyn Morgan gave Logan Shaw one last deep look, turned around, and walked away.
Over a decade ago, her big brother had rescued her from hunger, cold, loneliness, and fear.
At that time, he appeared like a god in her dark and bleak life.
And now, after experiencing so much, she should’ve grown up—to treat some people who are unwilling to interact with her as strangers too.
No matter how much kindness that person showed her, she couldn’t just return the favor as she pleased.
After all, in her benefactor’s eyes, not recognizing each other was the greatest repayment.
Logan Shaw’s eyes were filled with deep guilt as he shouted at Evelyn Morgan’s retreating figure, "Maybe it’s too late to say this, but, Evelyn, I want to be the one to protect you!"
Hearing Logan Shaw’s words, Evelyn Morgan suddenly stopped in her tracks.
Her brows were furrowed tightly together, unsure of how to react to Logan Shaw’s shout.
The scene she had always fantasized about since she was little, the words she had always longed to hear, were happening for real at this moment, yet she had the impulse to act as if they never occurred.
At this moment, all she could think about was Caden Lockwood.
She couldn’t help but wonder: when he meets her, what will he say?
Logan Shaw walked towards Evelyn Morgan, looking at her still tear-stained face, a mix of guilt and deep affection brewed inside him.
Once he reached her, Logan Shaw lifted his hand, wanting to wipe her tears, but seeing the resistance in her eyes, his action froze, then he gently tidied the stray hair on her forehead.
"I’ve always been afraid to admit it," Logan Shaw said softly. "Though we haven’t known each other for long, from the first moment I saw you, I felt a sense of déjà vu; and when you ran into the fire to save me, my heart was completely occupied by you."
After a brief pause, he spoke again, "When I’m happy, you’re the first person I want to share it with; when I’m in pain, you’re the first person I want to hide it from. I’ve always been lying to myself, thinking I only see you as a sister, but I can’t fool myself any longer."
Logan Shaw clenched his fist, looking into Evelyn Morgan’s eyes, and gently said, "Evelyn, I’ve realized I’m in love with you, and maybe I shouldn’t be saying this now, but if you’re willing to forgive me, let me stand by your side, together let’s face Caden Lockwood, and ask him to let you go, alright?"
