Chapter 1738 - 1676: Trivial Matters
Chapter 1738 - 1676: Trivial Matters
Once the knot in her heart was untied, Purple Jade relaxed, although she felt a bit embarrassed looking at Wufu. The young lady was even younger than herself, yet it was Wufu who enlightened her, which was honestly a bit shameful.
Wufu, however, didn’t mind and started talking to her about matters inside the house and outside.
"The people Uncle Wushuang sent to serve Changsheng are meticulous enough. I plan to assign Jadeite to him as well, since she has some medical skills. Changsheng has a weak body and needs someone knowledgeable in this area to keep an eye on him," Wufu explained her arrangements.
"If you send Jadeite over, you’ll have one less person by your side, miss."
"With you managing things in my room, it’s more than sufficient, and there’s also Mo Lan, Hongyu, and others. How is Xiaodie doing?" Wufu asked about Lu Xiaodie.
After Lu Xiaodie entered the estate, she was placed in the position of a second-class maid. With her skills in needlework being quite good, she mostly manages Wufu’s clothes and accessories.
"Her temperament has become much more even after being in the estate; she’s not as sharp as before. Now, she gets along quite well with the other maids, and Hongyu often consults her on needlework and embroidery," Purple Jade smiled and said.
"The maids are all good in their own roles. Let them do their parts well because, eventually, when the head maids reach the age to be assigned partners, replacements are always needed."
Purple Jade smiled again, "Even without you saying, I know. Right now, several of the good ones are already being trained as head maids. While it’s not a big deal here, once we return to Beiyan and you and the Prince get married, the house will need eight head maids, countless second and third-class maids, along with sturdy old maids, servant girls, and attendants. You are indeed short of hands, miss."
As a Princess Consort, having only three or four head maids is truly too streamlined by Wufu’s standards.
Wufu furrowed her brows slightly and said, "When it comes to serving people, quality is more important than quantity. Observe carefully, and those with potential and good qualities should be well-trained. Moreover, their qualities are secondary; the most important thing is loyalty. Without this, even the best should be dismissed!"
Purple Jade felt a chill in her heart, "I understand, miss."
For servants, skills are secondary; loyalty is most important. If they are prone to betrayal, no matter how skilled they are, they are useless. Who would dare to use them?
Wufu then spoke to her about some trivial matters. At that moment, Ah Jiu entered. Purple Jade served tea, bowed, and withdrew.
"Are all matters settled?" Wufu looked at Ah Jiu.
Ah Jiu made a sound of agreement, held her hand briefly, and said, "Your hand is a bit cold; you’re wearing too little." He stood up and took a cloak from the side, placing it over her shoulders, and asked, "What did you talk about with Purple Jade? Her eyes appeared a bit red."
"That girl is still brooding over her mother’s matter, holding on to a knot in her heart. I said a few words to her, and now it’s all cleared up," Wufu smiled.
Ah Jiu replied, "That’s good. She’s the most reliable maid by your side." After a pause, he added, "When we return to Beiyan, I will ask Royal Mother to send a couple of competent older maids to be by your side. You and the maids around you are still young; it’s necessary to have experienced older maids with you."
For matters such as childbirth among women, how would unmarried young women know? It’s always better to have older people with experience and understanding.
Wufu nodded with a smile, nestling against his shoulder.
Ah Jiu kissed her, and the two were sweetly intimate, but they were interrupted by a discordant voice.
Hua Wushuang was calling them to the guest courtyard for a discussion.
